Sami Viollet had 2 passions: Mountains and Physics. He passed away too soon on February, 2nd 2025. Though so young he left us quite a legacy.
This site is dedicated to him through his 2 passions.
Sami was born in Grenoble (France) on January 9th, 1997. He spent his first childhood, with his elder brother and his twin sisters, in Saint Pancrasse, just below the Dent de Crolles in the Massif of Chartreuse, not far from a climbing school, and the paragliding take-off of Saint Hillaire du Touvet. He also spent many of his holidays in Les Contamines Montjoie, close to the Mont Blanc. His mother is an electronics engineer and a management consultant, and his father a Mountain Guide and a paragliding instructor.
He studied at Lycée Berthollet in Annecy for his scientific preparatory classes. He entered the Ecole Normale Supérieure of Paris-Saclay in 2017 where he obtained the Agrégation of Physics in 2020. He joined the University of Luminy in Marseille to complete a Master degree in theoretical physics followed by a Phd he obtained on December 10th, 2024.
During all this time he never stopped skiing, hiking, climbing, paragliding.
