Sami had started a course to become a mountaineering instructor with the CAF in Marseille. He had spent his first weekend in Carroux, an area with plenty of opportunities for outdoor adventure. Unfortunately, it rained all weekend, so they ended up studying theory instead of climbing!

He was really keen to take this course: for him, it was an important step toward improving his skills and continuing to learn how to navigate the mountains with ever-greater safety. Since the conditions hadn’t allowed for climbing that weekend, he found it almost amusing—and a little frustrating—that they’d all been accepted for the next phase without having been able to place any "friends"!
